It Started With Squash

In March I signed up to play squash at the 2027 World Masters Games in Japan.

Somewhere along the way, it became a family trip.

All five of us will be there beforehand — Brenda, Eva, Fraser, Gavin, and me. Mother's Day. Brenda's birthday. Tokyo, Kyoto. The kids have been curious about Japan for years (anime and otherwise). Gavin even named his cat Kurama — after the giant nine-tailed fox from Naruto: powerful, a bit grumpy, sealed inside the hero, and eventually his closest friend and partner.

Then I'll stay on for the Games. Eight people from Vancouver have registered so far.

The squash was the "excuse."

One thing I know for sure: it won't be the most important part.

Not even close.
