If something happened to me, I would want Brenda to be able to keep things going without feeling completely lost - especially financially.
We already have what I'd like to think is a decent Estate Plan framework: wills, a representation agreement, powers of attorney and the other formal documents. But those documents don't explain how to unlock my computer, get into my iPhone if Face ID is no longer an option, identify which accounts send security codes by SMS, or know which authenticator app controls what.
And the more AI tools, websites, accounts and systems I spin up, the harder the eventual handoff becomes.
This Project is my attempt to map the practical machinery of our household: passwords and device access, recovery emails, security questions, banks, insurance, subscriptions, assets, important contacts and personal notes. Not as one giant document containing every secret - the proverbial “keys to the kingdom” - but as a secure, usable guide to what exists, where it lives, how it can be accessed and who can help.
It will be a living Project rather than a one-time file. The aim is not to plan for dying early. It is to make sure that, if I were suddenly unable to manage everything I currently manage, the financial models and careful planning would still be useful to the person I built them for.
Status: In progress - and probably always evolving.
I wrote about why I'm doing this here.
